How it started → how it’s going

For most of my working life, I felt like I was trying to choose between two impossible options:

Do work I enjoy, but constantly worry about money

Or get paid… and feel invisible, stuck, or undervalued.

I never had both, at least not for long.

There were jobs where I felt aligned with the mission, but the pay was so low I had to take on side work just to survive. Other jobs had a better paycheck, but I was expected to stay small, do what I was told, and not make waves.

And then there were the things they actually said to me:

• “It’s such a relief to not have to worry about your salary anymore.”

• “If you want to keep this job, you need to fix your personality.”

• “Your only value to me is the cleanliness of the rug.”

Yeah.

When I got laid off in 2023, I had already been running Space Cookie on the side for a little over a year - mostly in the margins, before and after my full-time job.

That layoff was the turning point.

It was scary. It was stressful. But it also made the decision for me: I was done waiting for someone else to create the kind of work and life I wanted.

That’s when Space Cookie stopped being a side hustle and became my full-time, full-hearted commitment.

And now? The things I hear sound more like this:

• “I’m so glad I hired you. I could have never done this on my own.”

• “You’ve made this so easy and I can’t wait to show off my new branding and website.”

• “I’m so grateful that you shared your knowledge and expertise.”

No comparison.

At the core of it, my goal is simple:

I want small business owners to take over the world.

Web design is the tool I use to support that.

Because a good website isn’t about checking a box.
