I’m terrible at pool, but I really love it. I line up the shot, hit the cue, and sometimes it even goes where I want it to and I pocket a ball.

It’s the little things in life, truly.

The thing about pool is you can’t just focus on the shot in front of you. You have to think a few moves ahead—where the cue ball’s going to land next, what your next shot might be, and how you’re setting yourself up (or not) for what comes after.

It’s the same thing with your website.

Sure, someone might land on your homepage—but where do they go from there? What’s the next move? Is your site guiding people to take action, or are they just kinda bouncing around with no clear direction?

Your website doesn’t have to be fancy, but it does need to be intentional. That means thinking a few steps ahead:

  • What’s the first thing you want someone to do?

  • Where should they go next?

  • How does your site support the goals of your business?

Quick Tip

Too many choices can overwhelm visitors. Try limiting each page to one goal that supports your overall site goal, so you’re not asking them to make five moves at once. One page, one purpose makes the next step feel obvious.

Your homepage is the exception—it acts more like a roadmap to your site. Just make sure each path is clear and intentional!
