Last week, I mentioned in a virtual networking meeting that I was moving.

I didn’t say where.

And the three people I talked to afterward?

Each one assumed I was moving to their city.

It was a funny reminder of something I see with websites all the time:

If you leave gaps, people will fill them in with whatever makes sense in their world.

That might mean:

• They assume you’re too expensive (because you never mention pricing)

• They think you're not taking clients (because your copyright year is still 2022)

• They don’t know what your process looks like, so they move on to someone who explains it better

Your website doesn’t have to spell everything out, but it does need to guide your visitors toward the right assumptions.

If you haven’t checked your site in a while, now’s a great time to ask if your site is telling the full story, or are your visitors filling in the blanks on their own?
