The best part about designing is I have no idea what’s going to happen.
Sometimes, when I’m starting homepage concepts for a new client, I have a general idea of what I want to play with. But not always.
I work with creative intuition when I’m designing, built from conversations with my clients in calls and the onboarding. In these calls, I’m listening for what lights my clients up in their work. I’m paying attention to how they talk about their business, the energy they bring to the calls, and the type of feeling they want their clients to have.
I pull inspiration from my clients directly. I have them show me websites that they like and we talk through what they like about it. Sometimes, they like just one teensy thing and nothing else about the website.
I pay attention to what others in their industry are doing, only to make sure I’m not accidentally creating something just like it. If I pulled inspiration from every other lawyer site for my lawyer client, then my client’s website will just be like everyone else’s. No, thank you.
This creative intuition is hard to put into words, because I do not have language around why some sentences feel blue and a bit right-aligned. But I can show you!
a peek into my design process with homepage concepts
I’m not designing in a vacuum either. Every client gets 3 homepage concepts and their final homepage usually becomes a blend of all 3. This makes the final result stronger, because not only am I designing with my clients in mind, but they have a say in what their final site looks like.
If you’re tired of handing out your website with a disclaimer that it’s on your to-do list to update, I have 5 spots left for this year for custom websites.
Insurance has... a reputation, and not a good one. But while we all love to hate insurance, there are some good eggs out there making sure you're properly covered so you don't have one of those delightful insurance horror stories.
Amanda Mancuso created Shanti Insurance Services to support business and families, and she's very much one of those insurance people that truly have your back. She wanted branding and a website that felt professional and welcoming, knowing that there's a stigma in her industry that she has to overcome.
Amanda's love of yoga, nature, and sense of humor became the whole design direction, without losing the professionalism that builds trust with people when they're looking for insurance.
